Crawl Space Support

Crawl Space Support

The Foundation Supportworks SmartJack® System is a supplemental vertical support system for compromised suspended floor structures. The SmartJack® system is installed adjacent to existing settling columns, across the span of floor joists, or along the span of girders and is designed to lift and stabilize sagging floor structures caused by:

  • Undersized girders or joists
  • Incorrect joist spacing
  • Additional load added to the floor system
  • Weakening of the wood members over time due to moisture and rot

The SmartJack® system is often supported by a solid base of engineered fill which can effectively address the weak foundation soil by transferring the weight of the structure to deeper competent strata. Other support options include cast-in-place concrete footings or large steel plate footings when the near surface soils are suitable for bearing. Steel columns are secured to the beams or joists in the crawl space. Heavy-duty, threaded rods allow for adjustment and a custom fit for each SmartJack system.
