Foundation Supportworks' GeoLock® Wall Anchor System offers a proven way to laterally support sheared, leaning, and bowing foundation and retaining walls, which are subjected to earth and hydrostatic pressures. Since the 1970s, contractors have used similar "plate anchor" or "dead man" systems to stabilize foundations and retaining walls.
The system uses a steel earth anchor plate, which is buried in the ground an appropriate distance away from the wall, an interior steel wall plate that bears against the interior wall face, and steel all-thread rods to connect the two plates together.
When tightened, the interior wall plate will exert a great deal of force on the foundation wall. With periodic retightening, the system offers an opportunity to recover the inward movement of the wall. In many circumstances, the position of the wall will improve over time.
